“For the 2022 elections, I created a series of free downloadable vote posters to raise awareness about issues especially important to me—like gun reform, reproductive rights, and climate change legislation. I shared these posters on Instagram to provide artistic expression and critical information to encourage people to get out and vote for meaningful change.”
One poster focused on gun reform, highlighting the alarming rise in mass shootings and the lack of strong, effective laws. I wanted to emphasize how local elections play a major role in gun legislation, encouraging voters to consider the candidates who will push for safer communities. I also included information about specific ballot measures in different states to help guide voters in making informed choices.
Another poster was about reproductive rights, specifically addressing state-level initiatives like California’s Proposition 1 and Michigan’s Proposition 3, which aimed to protect abortion access. With Roe v. Wade being threatened, I wanted to emphasize how important it was to vote for candidates who would protect reproductive freedoms.
The third poster focused on climate change, stressing the urgency of supporting public funding and policies to combat environmental issues. I shared information about 14 states where voters were considering measures to address climate change, highlighting how this issue affects everyone, no matter what side of the political spectrum they’re on.
I drew inspiration for the design from the work of Lena Wolff and Hope Meng, whose simple and beautiful vote posters really resonated with me. I used the Gopher font by Adam Ladd to make sure the messages were clear, visually striking, and easy to understand. The goal was to make these posters not just informative, but also something people would want to share and use to help spread the word. By making them available for free download, I hoped to reach as many people as possible and inspire them to take action in the 2022 elections.
